Bar bribery case: Court rejects Vigilance's claims

T'puram: The Vigilance court rejected the Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau's claims on the bar bribery case. The court observed that Vigilance director Vinson M Paul had given strict instructions to the investigating officer to see that minister KM Mani was set free of all bribery charges. The VACB had argued that the director had only expressed his opinion on the case. The court, rejecting the vigilance's argument that its director and SP Sukeshan who led the investigation had equal role in the probe, made it clear that the latter was in total control. In another significant observation, the court said that the statement given by Biju Ramesh's driver Ambily was corroborated by scientific evidence.
