Kodiyeri demands EC should declare LSG polls on Sept 7

T'puram: CPM state secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan demanded that the elections to local bodies should be conducted next month itself. Addressing a press meet here on Sunday, Kodiyeri alleged that the government is trying to delay the elections indefinitely. He said that the polls cannot be conducted in November as the Sabarimala pilgrimage will start. He said that CPM has not gone after spirituality and it was Onam procession that the CPM conducted in Kannur. "The code of conduct should come into effect tomorrow itself. Implementing administrative rule in local bodies is part of the bid to influence the elections. The government is bound to obey the directive of the High Court", he said.
