Kannur violence: Lapses on part of police alleged

There is widespread criticism that there was lapse on the part of police is dealing with the political clashes in Kannur. Even after 11 people were injured and 30 odd houses damaged no one was arrested by the police. Meanwhile, rejecting the allegation Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala said that BJP and CPM in Kannur is indulging political violence and it should be doubted that violence unleashed purposefully. He also ruled out any intelligence failure on the sudden outburst of violence. A high level meeting was held to bring back the law and order situation under normalcy in which DGP TP Senkumar, Intelligence ADGP A Hemachandran and Home Secretary Nalini Netto participated.
