Engg colleges HC advised to shut down still poor in quality

T'puram: The educational standards of even those self-finance colleges, which were advised to be closed down by the High Court of Kerala in 2012 due to their poor quality of education, did not improve even after three years. The HC had directed the state government to consider closing down self-financing engineering colleges whose pass percentage was less than 40. Instead of closing them down, the government succumbed to the pressure exerted by the management lobby and gave them another chance to shape up. But, the colleges failed to move an inch, say reports. The government has given the managements yet another year to improve quality of education, purportedly with an eye on the future of the students.
