Kochi: The Kerala High Court Division Bench on Thursday rejected the state government's appeal against the single bench order quashing the government notifications creating new panchayats. The Election Commission had submitted an affidavit in Kerala High Court dismissing the claims made by the state government regarding the division of panchayats. The EC informed the court that the polls would be delayed by six months once the constitution of new panchayats is approved. The court also asked the government to render all possible help for the smooth conduct of civic body polls. CM Oommen Chandy said the state government would not file a fresh appeal against the HC order.
