Thachankary offers to quit if no funds given for Onam fair

Kollam: Consumer Fed MD Tomin Thachankari has informed chief minister Oommen Chandy that he is not willing to continue in his position if enough allocations are not made for running Onam fairs. Though the federation has asked for Rs 100 crore for Onam fairs, the finance department has not accepted it. Thoug Rs 25 crore has been allocated, what the federation actually got was just Rs 10 crore. Since this amount could only be considered in the subsidy category, there is no money for buying goods for Onam. The federation has been destroyed by the government's inability to pay Rs 350 crore due to the company. If Consumer Fed cannot operate the fairs during Onam, the private merchants would make a killing, he said.
