Kozhikode: Calicut University Vice Chancellor Dr M Abdul Salam retires from service on Tuesday, after being at the centre of a host of controversies. He said to Mathrubhumi News that he was the most harassed VC in the history of the varsity. All the allegation against him were the result of the manipulations by vested interests. Teachers and students appreciated my work privately. Though people like TN Prathapan MLA criticised me in public, they had called him up and apologised to him, he claimed. He could initiate several important changes in the academic as well as administrative sectors. He said he was happy to take the Calicut Varsity to the 101st place among BRICS countries and to the seventh place in the country.
