Bengaluru: Lalita Kumaramangalam, chair person of National Commission for Women, will visit Kerala very soon to inquire into the complaints about tribal minor girls getting pregnant out of wedlock in Attappady and Wayanad. When asked about this, the state government replied that the complaint was based on the media reports, which had blown the issue out of proportion, said Kumaramangalam. But, the explanation was not satisfactory, she added. Currently, the commission can just submit recommendations to the government. This should change and the Centre should give the Commission more powers, she said.
