Consumerfed arrears of Rs 80 cr mill owners stop rice supply

Kochi: The mill owners from Andhra Pradesh has taken a collective decision that they would not supply rice to consumerfed without clearing the arrears. The consumerfed has to pay them Rs 80 crore pending for the rice supply over a period of three years. The mill owners will not supply the rice during the Onam season if the arrears are not paid. To worsen the crisis the mill owners also threatened to block the supply of rice from any of the rice mills in Andhra Pradesh. Consumerfed MD Tomin J Thachankey said if the state government allots money, Consumerfed would pay a part of the arrears within two weeks.
