Opposition stalls Parliament demanding Sushma's resignation

New Delhi: The Monsoon session of the Parliament began in a high tide of protests from the Opposition on Lalit Gate. They demanded the resignation of foreign affairs minister Sushma Swaraj. Even though the government expressed its willingness to debate the issue on Tuesday itself, proceedings of the Rajya Sabha had to be stopped twice. Congress spokeman Anand Sharma alleged that the Centre was going out of its way to help Lalit Modi, a fugitive from the law and that steps should be taken to bring him back to India. Later, finance minister Arun Jaitley and Sushma informed the house of their willingness to discuss the issue, the Opposition carried on with their protests.
