Pay Commission recommends big hike in salary, pension

T'Puram: The 10th Pay Revision Commission submitted its report to the government on Monday. It recommends government to hike the minimum salary to Rs 17,000 and minimum pension to Rs 8,500. The commission also recommends raising of the retirement age to 58 from the current 56; it says pay revision should be limited to once in ten years. The special pay should be done away with while the mandatory service for being eligible to get pension was lowered to 25 years. The commission, headed by Justice Ramachandran Nair, has recommended implementation of the new pay scales with retrospective effect, from 1st July, 2014. Yearly increment ranges from Rs 500 to Rs 2500.
