Vigilance seeks withdrawal of bar bribery case against Mani

T'Puram: Mathrubhumi News has accessed a copy of the refer report on the bar bribery case the vigilance team submitted before the Vigilance Court. The report says Finance Minister KM Mani had not taken a stand favouring bar owners; it was the cabinet which took a decision on the bar issue and it was not favourable to the bar owners. The 54-page report says that the collected evidence is insufficient to prosecute the minister. Statements of 337 witnesses were recorded during investigation. The Bar Owners' Association had collected Rs 15 lakh from its members and that is recorded in their minutes book. The vigilance investigation team requests the Court to withdraw the case for lack of sufficient evidence.
