Panchayaths turn a blind eye; resorts flout all rules
Munnar: Huge resorts are being built in Munnar flouting all rules and regulations. If the basic ruling, that buildings should not be built on mountains with a slope of more than 45 degrees, is complied with, construction of several resorts in Munnar would have to be stopped immediately. Here, most of the land where construction takes place have not sufficient documentation. For some, stop memos have been issued by the revenue department as they were found to be in possession of fake pattas. Still, they manage to get panchayath permits with impunity. Though they themselves give the permits, the panchayaths claim they are unaware of what take place in the sites.
