Witch hunt against non-Karnataka vehicles resumes

B’luru: By an amendment to the state vehicles taxation act, all vehicles registered out of state were required to pay lifetime taxes for plying in Karnataka for more than 30 days continuously. Prior to this the time for payment was a year. With the High Court relief in a petition filed by Justice for Non KA Registration Vehicle Owners having ended, RTO officers and traffic police have again begun a witch hunt again against all non-Karnataka registered vehicles. The state collects almost a crore per day through these drives in which many cases of harassment are regularly reported. Rameez, a visitor, laments that at least re. 1.5 lakh is needed to drive an out-station Innova here.
