Fishermen violates complete trawling ban returns with fish

Kochi/Kollam: The efforts of Centre to enforce a complete trawling ban on Kerala from May 31, backfired with the fisherman venturing out in the sea. The boats went for fishing on May 31st night and as usual returned with fish. The Union government had issued a trawling ban of 61 days. Considering the situation a high level meeting, including the Coast Guard who is implementing the trawling ban, is scheduled to hold discussion on Tuesday. Meantime, reports from Kollam said the boats that crossed the 12 nautical miles were asked to return by the Coast Guard without allowing them to fish. Within 12 nautical miles from the shore, falls under the state government control.
