Violating trawling ban fisherfolk to venture out to sea

Kochi: Ignoring the complete trawling ban of the centre, the fishermen will venture out to sea on Monday. Both the fishermen union and the boat owners association in the state have announced that they cannot accept the complete trawling ban. The state government stand is that there is nothing wrong in fishing up to limit of 12 nautical miles. The 45 days trawling ban was extended to 65 days. Though the Centre had promised to exclude the traditional fisherfolk from the ban, they are not taking it on the face value. The fishing boats will continue catching fish till June 15. It has to be seen how coast guard reacts to the challenge of violating trawling ban by fisherfolk.
