Life lessons on water literacy

Bangalore: Shedding light on the need for water literacy is Vishwanathan, hailing from Bangalore, who has constructed hundreds of rainwater harvesting tanks across the city. His house stands as a testimony to his commitment for water conservation with every drop of water including waste water reused. The kitchen garden on his house produce organic vegetables and he teaches Keralites a lesson or two on water conservation. A civil engineer by profession, Vishwanathan has achieved this feat in a state like Karnataka that receives only 97 mm rainfall. He points out that the available water resources should be protected in Kerala and open wells in the state should not be allowed to dry up.
