‘Fidayeen’ attack on J&K police station leaves 4 dead

Dilli: At least 4 people were killed in a suicide attack on the Rajbagh police station in Kathua, J&K. Among those killed are a policeman, one CRPF officer and a civilian. 10 others were injured, including 7 CRPF men, when a a ‘fidayeen’ squad dressed in Army fatigues stormed the station. After 6 hours of encounter, security personnel managed to kill 2 terrorists. Entire area in and around the police station has been cordoned off. Additional troops have been rushed to the spot and the Jammu-Pathankote highway has been closed as a precautionary measure. This is the first major militant attack in J&K since the PDP-BJP government has assumed office in the state.
