U S women breach male dominance in farming
U S, with 63% of farmers aged 55+, is desperate for young farming hands. Hence, National Young Farmers Coalition in partnership with Stonyfield Farm started the Bootstrap Blogger series in which 5 young female dairy farmers had to write a monthly blog post for a year, chronicling their dairy experiences. Three of them created short videos released by the NYFC for public viewing and possible inspiration for aspiring diarists. It is also an indomitable feminine impress on the world of U S farming, a male bastion. With perseverance, humor, and love for the land, these sturdy women have created viable, sustainable farms, thus preserving the future of U S dairy farming in the process.
