NSS girl volunteers plant seeds of hope in poor home

Kozhikode: In the yuletide spirit of hope, 80 NSS volunteers of Providence Women’s College devoted their Christmas vacation to bring cheer to abandoned souls and to plant seeds in the West Hill Poor Home that will bear fruit in years ahead. They camped for a week in nearby St. Michael’s GHSS for 10 days, foraying forth in the morn on their farming mission. Dr. R Sini, NSS coordinator says that they planted 500 heads of vegetables, 100 plantains, tapioca, guava, sapodilla {sapota} and cherry. Aparna Unni and Aarsha Thankachan share their initial concerns over the sandy soil, which later yielded to their loving touch. They return wiser for the experience of caring for those cast off by families.
