‘State sponsored censorship a threat to Chinese films'

T’puram: Acclaimed Chinese filmmaker and Jury chairman of IFFK, Xie Fei said that it is the state-sponsored censorship and high commercialization is posing threat to the creative freedom of filmmakers in China. He said this while talking with Mathrubhumi News on the sidelines of IFFK here. Xie Fei said that the Chinese youngsters are jumping the hurdles of censorship by releasing their short films on YouTube and other social media. The acclaimed filmmaker from China also showered praise on Malayali audience and the quality with which the IFFK is conducted. He wants the filmmakers from the state to focus more on regional problems through their films.
