IS tweeter held

Bengaluru: Mehdi Masroor Biswas, 24-year-old manufacturing executive with ITC Foods was arrested on allegations of being the “most influential” tweeter on the Islamic State. According to police commissioner M.N. Reddi he “is not a terror suspect; only a person inhabiting the virtual world carrying out IS propaganda. As per our information, he had not recruited anyone or facilitated any such activity within India.” Mehdi, an electrical engineer, hails from Kaikhali in North 24-Parganas, where his parents live. Britains Channel 4 News had revealed that he operated the twitter handle for @ShamiWitness. He has been charged under the IPC Section 125, Sections 18 and 39 of the UAPA and Section 66 of the IT Act.
