‘Mathrubumi Weekly’ special; ‘Viewer is Cinema’
On the eve of 19th IFFK, ‘Mathrubhumi Weekly’ is a ‘Viewer is Cinema’ special with V Muzzafar Ahmed writing on the neutered state of a cineaste trapped in a terrain sans films, interviews with hit maker Lal who never attends festivals and movie buff whose cinematic dreams never took wing - Chelavur Venu. The latter, who launched many firsts in Malayalam journalism, including film/sports/women’s publications, narrates his involvement with the nascent film society culture in Kerala, among other things on ‘Morning Show.’ An extract from Kluge’s “Cinema Stories,” articles by K Sethumadhavan, Vidyarthi Chatterjee, I Shanmukhadas, Beena Paul, Kobita Mukhopadhyaya and Rekha Raj grace the issue.
