‘Janapaksha Yatra’ takes huge donation from toddy owners

Kollam: With only days left to wind up, KPCC president V M Sudheeran’s anti-liquor ‘Janapaksha Yata’ has once again mired in a controversy for taking huge sum as donation from the toddy shop owners of the state. The local Congress workers of the respected region had resorted to pressure tactics by threatening the toddy owners to collect donation for the conduct of the Yatra. Amounts ranging from Rs 4000 to Rs 5000 were taken from the owners and those who resisted were threatened by the Excise officials. When these owners insisted for a receipt, the congress workers had only given them receipts in the name of Sevaldal and INTUC.
