Liquor policy would be a setback; CM denied allegation

Thiruvananthapuram: Chief Minister Oommen Chandy confesses that the current liquor policy of the state government is leading the tourism industry into bankruptcy. In a note to the State Bankers Forum, chief minister asked the banks to consider a moratorium to the loans taken for the projects by the House Boat owners. There are 529 houseboat owners in the state and many have availed loans to purchase boats. They would face a difficult situation in repaying the loans, says the CM's office note. The observation of chief minister that the liquor policy would be a setback to the tourism industry could be used by the bar owners in their favour in the High Court.
