Top bureaucrat suspended on graft charges
T’puram: PWD secretary T O Sooraj was suspended for possessing assets disproportionate to his known sources of legitimate income, on the heels of vigilance raiding 5 premises and subsequent grilling in Kochi. CM Chandy trotted forth the familiar litany that the law would take its own course. Home Minister Chennithala had confirmed of strong evidence against the tainted bureaucrat. Sooraj made a veiled threat: “I will deal with this legally. I also know lots. At the apt time, I will reveal. There shouldn’t be a wrong perception that I am the only guilty party.” Incidentally, he remained unscathed under the previous LDF government despite the vigilance seeking a probe against him.
