Chennai: Google is to launch a mobile app to help Small & Medium-size Businesses {SMB} get online, as part of its “Digitising India” mission. This will help SMBs acquire an internet footprint to connect with potential customers online, according to K Suryanarayana, Head of SMB sales, Google India. Most of the SMBs have ignored the potential of the net as a growth engine. He said that out of the 48 million SMBs, only 5-6% businesses have a website, in contrast to nearly 40% possessing a smart phone, which can be used to develop online presence. The app will be made available soon. Google along with CII has launched Google SME Heroes to showcase local SMBs that have effectively embraced the net.
