TN shops supplying pesticide to the state in abundance

Kochi: Many prohibited pesticides are smuggled in to the state in large quantities from Tamil Nadu. Mathrubhumi News investigation proves again that the shops in Cumbum and Theni are supplying prohibited pesticides in bulk to the state. When approached as farmers, these dealers have promised to supply many of the prohibited pesticides to the farmlands in the state the next day. They would smuggle in the pesticides by hiding it in the jeeps and other vehicles carrying plantation labourers from Tamil Nadu to Idukki. Meanwhile, the Check Post authorities fail to detect this trafficking and Agriculture Department authorities also fail to prevent them from being used in the farmlands of the state.
