Jayalalithaa to remain in jail till Oct 6

Bengaluru: Jailed AIADMK supremo Jayalalithaa’s bail plea is expected to be heard by the Karnataka HC on October 6. High Court is on Dasara holidays from September 29-6 October. The 66-year-old leader sought relief two days after a Special Court sentenced her to jail for four years, as a fallout of which she lost her Assembly membership and consequently CM’s post. The case was adjourned, when G Bhavani Singh, the Special Public Prosecutor in the disproportionate assets case, told the judge that he had not received any official notification appointing him as the SPP for the criminal appeal filed in the high court. The court has directed the state to complete the formalities by 6th.
