Visiting temples and religious places?

Most temples and religious places of worship in Kerala have the following code of conduct.

Entry to the sanctum sanctorum is banned, except for priests.
Using footwear inside the temple is not allowed in all the temples.
Shirts and pants for men are banned from some temples and allowed in some others. Where they are banned, men have to be in 'mundu' (dhoti) and women, in saris, half-saris or long skirts.
Some temples do not permit entry of non-Hindus, while some do.
Other codes of conduct and customs in temples across the State vary from each other.
