Kulathupuzha

Most of the attractions of the Thenmala Eco-tourism Project truly belong to Kulathoopuzha. Rosemala, where the 'chenkurunji' grows, Kallar and Kattilapara are in Kulathoopuzha. The temple at Kulathoopuzha is dedicated to 'boy' Sastha and hence closely linked to the famed pilgrim center of Sabarimala where the presiding deity is the Sastha. The main annual festival is on the Vishu day (mid-April) when thousands join a grand procession. Kallar is known for the plantations developed by British colonizers deep in the forested hills. Kattilapara area is where adventure tourism, trekking and wildlife viewing are arranged by the Thenmala Tourism development society.
