Dowry deaths double in Kerala

New Delhi: As per National Crime Record bureau report, dowry deaths have doubled in Kerala. During the previous year, more number of cases were reported in Kerala. In 2012, 32 women died due to dowry when compared to 15 in 2011, an increase of 113.3 percent. Kerala stands fifth in women getting humiliated. Though there is increase in number of rapes, 1019 cases were reported in 2012. In other states there is considerable decline. Tripura stands next to Kerala but it's only 23.3 %.
UP leads in number of dowry deaths with Bihar coming second. In Bihar, the death rate is less than the previous year. There are many cases reported in Kerala of women harrasment where husbands and in-laws torture women. 5216 cases were registered and West Bengal tops with 19,865 cases.
The number of murder cases rose from 365 to 374 and murder attempt cases decreased from 521 to 497. 214 abduction cases of women and children were reported in Kerala.
Kerala stands third with 3,52,289 cases filed in Court. UP stands first with 16,26,067 cases and Tamil Nadu second with 5,49,064 cases. Another major thing is the riot cases reported in Kerala as even taking procession comes under this category and 10,938 cases were reported. As per crime record bureau, as many as 30 riot cases alone occured in Kerala during the last year and there is increase in number of such cases too.
