Kozhikode: The Kozhikode Second Additional District and Sessions Court awarded life term and slapped a fine of Rs 1,40,000 against the accused Korachankandy Sasi in the Moiduhaji murder case in Nadapuram.
The hearing on the case was resumed after Sasi surrendered before the court after being at large in 2007.
Moidu Haji, a sympathiser of the Indian Union Muslim League, was killed during the political and communal riots at Nadapuram on January 14, 2001. A mob reportedly activists of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) (CPI-M) attacked the house of Moidu Haji and killed him. The murder was said to be a sequel to the killing of a CPI(M) worker Santosh on the previous day.
