Japan team visits Kochi Metro areas

Kochi: The fact finding Japanese team visited the areas through which the Kochi Metro project is likely to pass. The team started from Aluva and analysed the alignment, implementation activities and the obstacles that it is likely to pose in the implementation stage.
The team also studied on how the construction activities could be undertaken without creating traffic blockade. They also took into account the woes that pedestrians would have to face once the activities start. Apart from Aluva, the team also visited Kalamassery, Muttam yard, Edapally bypass junction, North bridge, M G Road, areas near the South Railway station, Vytilla and Peta.
DMRC project director P Sriram also apprised the other phases of the project to the Japanese team. Along with the team, KMRL members, DMRC and Revenue officials accompanied them.
JICA has decided to offer a financial assistance of Rs 2171 crore to Kochi Metro. The mission sent by JICA would have its Indian representative Yushiro Sano, assistant director Kei Sui Fukayi , Natpac director Elangovan and district collector P A Sheikh Pareeth.
