Lakhs throng Chakkulathkavu temple for pongala

Pathanamthitta: Lakhs of devotees from in and outside Kerala thronged the Chakkulathkavu temple for the Karthika Pongala on Wednesday. The pongala kilns were set up for over 70 km distance in the bylanes and streets of Thiruvalla-Thakazhi Road and M C Road. Over 12 lakh people are offering pongala on this auspicious day.
The pongala rituals began at 8 am and union minister Kodikunnil Suresh inaugurated the pongala at 8.30 am. VHP all India vice president Kummanam Rajashekaran addressed the devotees.
The uchadeeparadhana and divyaabishekam will be held at 12.30 noon.
