Despite security arrangements by Uttar Pradesh Police, supporters Arvind Kejriwal clashed with Congress workers on Thursday in Farrukhabad. Earlier on the day, Arvind Kejriwal reached Farrukhabad with his supporters to lead a rally against Union minister Salman Khurshid. Even as all eyes are on Thursday's India Against Corruption (IAC) rally against irregularities in Salman Khurshid's Dr Zakir Hussain Trust in Farrukhabad, Kejriwal and Kumar Viswas have alleged that the Samajwadi Party government in Uttar Pradesh is giving ' patronage' to the Union Minister.
The IAC's rally in Farrukhabad was against the entire Congress and not only against Khurshid after the UPA-11 elevated him as an external affairs minister recently, IAC member Gopal Rai said in Etah on Thursday.
The IAC leaders also expressed apprehensions about a threat on their lives in UP following a nexus between the Congress, BJP and other political parties along with corporate houses involved in corruption.
Kejriwal, who reached Farrukhabad on Thursday morning from New Delhi by Padmavat Express train, told mediapersons at the Charbagh railway station that their rally at Farrukahbad was aimed at making the people aware about corrupt politicians.
'But I have an apprehension that the SP government is trying to save Khurshid and his Trust just to secure benefit from Congress in the disproportionate assets(DA) case of Mr Mulayam Singh Yadav,' Mr Kejriwal alleged.
The statement was also supported by his partner Kumar Viswas, who came along with him, saying,' everyone knows about the hobnobbing between the SP and Congress.'
'The UP government is yet to probe the irregularities of the Dr Zakir Hussain Trust, which ditched the handicapped persons of the state,' they added.
Kejriwal and Viswas also announced that they will ask people of Farrukhabad to elect a handicapped person in the next Lok Sabha elections to give the Congress a befitting answer on corruption of the Trust run by Khurshid and his wife Louise.
Meanwhile, another IAC activist Gopal Rai, who led a car rally from Ghaziabad to Farrukahabad, said the Farrukhabad rally is now against Congress, rather than against Salman Khurshid.
'The Congress rejection of the IAC demand to remove Khurshid from the Union Cabinet till the probe against his trust is completed, proves that the party is supporting a corrupt leader,' he told mediapersons at Etah while on way to Farrukhabad.
Rai also expressed apprehension about the threat lives of IAC leaders saying that political parties and some corporate houses can go to any extent to save their skin before the people after several cases of scam have been disclosed against them.
Meanwhile, a report from Farrukhabad said the entire city has been converted into a fortress, security personnel have been deployed at all corners of the city to prevent any untoward incident.
Temporary jails have been set up while several buses have been acquired to ferry the protestors in case of any violence. Several companies of PAC and additional police forces have been rushed from adjoining districts.
In the rally, the IAC activists would be wearing caps bearing the slogan 'Main Hoon Aam Admi' and in retaliation, the Congress workers would have on Salman Khurshid's mask and caps with the slogan 'Main Salman Hoon'.
The rally venue, Lohia Park at Awas Vikas Colony, is already full with IAC activists besides more than 200 handicapped persons were sitting on the dias since early morning.
Supporters from other states including Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Bihar and Maharastra were also seen at the rally ground.
Several huge Tri-colour flags at the venue is the star attraction with IAC members wearing caps of 'Main Hoon Aam Admi.'
