
Award presented to noted writer M T Vasudeavan Nair

Union Minister of state for Home Affairs Mulappally Ramachadran today presented seventh Mayilpeeli Award to noted writer M T Vasudeavan Nair.
The award instituted by Kunhi Kannan Jewellery, Kannur, was presented in a function at Sadhoo Auditorium here.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr Ramachadran has said today was a historic day as noted writers M T Vasudevan Nair and T Padmanabhan shared stage after a period of long years.
Both of them lived in a same era and their contribution to the literature field was remarkable.
Minister said the reading of novels and stories by the people had not diminished because more books were released in recent periods. However, the number had reduced compared to 1960-70 era.
Mr Padmanabhan said there was indifference seen between the writers but it did not mean that there was enmity between them.
Mr Vasudevan said the acceptance of awards or recognition would make writers more responsible.
K Sudhakaran, MP Sawmi Apoorvaanadha Saraswathi, M Abdurahiman, C V Raveendranath also attended the function.
The award carried a cash prize of Rs 50,000, a statuette and a citation.
