NIT students create a electricity revolution in forest school

Mukkam: A group of students of Kozhikode NIT gave a new ray of light to the students of a Mukkam school who studied in darkness till date. The NIT students implemented `electricity revolution' in the Chettyalathur LP school which functions in the deep forest of Noolpuzha, Wayanad. There is no electricity in the school set up 30 years back. NIT students who came to know about their plight, framed a project named `Avishkar' . They implemented the project generating power after setting up solar panels near the school, which is capable of running a streetlight, 7 bulbs and a computer. The inauguration was held on Sunday and the project implemented as part of technical fest `Thathva' in NIT. The Technology Business Incubator (TBI) gave technical expertise.

Chettyalathoor is surrounded by forests and is near Wayanand Wildlife Sanctuary. As many as 130 families, mostly tribals, are residing here. 30 students study in the school. The team, including Manesh Mohan, A Arun, P Anirudha, R Sreyas, PK Neeraj, CK Hashim, ML Ragesh, Fathima Farhana and ML Mili said they will continue efforts to lighten up the area.
