Kochi: The strike by the vehicle drivers of the IOC Udayamperoor plant was called off with a compromise reached between the drivers and the owners of the gas agencies following a manhandling incident.
The driver of the IOC plant was manhandled after he failed to produce the voucher after unloading the cylinders at the agency. The union members and employees of the plant undertook a strike to protest against this.
The protest was called off after the police arrested the owner of the gas agency and the employee in connection with the incident. The agency staff also approached the IOC plant and apologised for the incident and also offered to meet the treatment costs of the injured driver.
