Startup Village right kind of initiative: Esther Dyson

Posted on: 21 Aug 2012

Kochi:Legendary angel investor from Silicon Valley Esther Dyson has termed India's first telecom incubator Startup Village as the right initiative that can fill the gap India is experiencing a thumbs-up to India's first telecom incubator Startup in entrepreneurship.

Interacting with the budding entrepreneurs at the startup village, she said India has huge shortage of entrepreneurial or real business experience. Incubators like Startup Village would fill that gap.

'To tap into the opportunities of this decade, we need new ideas and the best way of doing that is by creating successful start-ups,' she added.

Ms Dyson, who was instrumental in turning over 150 startups like Flickr, Del.icio.us, Google ( through venture fund), said 'failure is the cost of success. It's akin to solving a problem and getting a wrong answer. But that doesn't mean that we quit, but instead we should reiterate ourselves and continue till we get right answer.' The 61-year-old philanthropist also stressed on the need for high communication skills, flexibility and learning ability as important traits for entrepreneurs and the ability to be persistent, manage and motivate a team is also very much required, a release said here today.
