Kozhikode: A Magistrate Court here today adjourned hearing in the bribery angle of infamous Kozhikode ice cream parlour sex scam case to September 1.
Kozhikode Judicial First Class Magistrate P I Prakashan adjourned the hearing on a plea by Kerala Opposition leader V S Achuthanandan.
Expressing displeasure over continued adjournment in the case, the court said efforts should be made to complete the hearing on the new date itself.
Earlier Mr Achuthanandan had sought to get impleaded in the case following a closure report submitted by the Special Investigation Team that probed the bribery angle in the case as in the absence of evidence.
The previous CPI(M)-led United Democratic Front government had constituted the SIT following revelation by City-based businessman. K A Rauf that his co-brother and Kerala Industry Minister P K Kunhalikutty influenced the judiciary to get a clean chit in the 1990s scandal.
Mr Kunhalikutty, Indian Union Muslim League strongman had to step down as Industry Minister in the previous Congress-led United Democratic Front government in 2006 following a public outcry triggered by revelation by one of the main victims and witnesses in the case that the former outraged her modesty thrice in different places in the state.
