Youth saved after nail pierces into heart

Angamaly: A youth who was seriously injured when a nail punctured his chest, was saved with the help of a complicated heart surgery at the Angamaly Little Flower Hospital.

Goluram Bajan, 22, from UP, working with a private furnishing company, was injured during the construction of a office cabin of a bank in Malayatoor.

Goluram was engaged in cabin making using plywood sheets and air pressure machine gun. He was demonstrating the way the plywood sheet gets locked with a nail using air pressure machine gun. Though he turned on the switch, the nail was not coming out. When he checked the machine turning it towards his chest, accidentally he pressed the button and the nail pierced his body.

The nail measuring 2.5-inch length pierced his body. He was rushed to a hospital immediately and a team led by cardio thoracic surgeon Dr A K Rafeeq performed the surgery. Doctors said the holes in the heart was filled taking a small portion of the vein from his leg.
