970 candidates left in fray in Kerala

Thiruvanathapuram : A total of 970 candidates were left in the fray for the April 13 assembly elections in Kerala as the deadline for withdrawal of nominations drew to a close this evening.
A total of 1,373 candidates had submitted their nominations for the 140-seat assembly, state election officials said.
Thuiruvananthapuram district has the largest number of 100 candidates in the fray the least number of 17 candidates is in Wayanad.
Ernakulam district has the second largest number of candidates with 107 left in the fray.
Kollam has 76 candidates, Pathanamthitta 40, Alappuzha 62, Kottayam 59, Idukki 41, Thrissur 84, Palakkad 75, Malappuram 97 Kozhikode 97, Kannur 71 and Kasargode 36 candidates.
The scrutiny of nominations was completed on Monday.
There are a total of 22,878,767 voters, including 11,919,652 women, as per the latest revised electoral list.
