Oscars Nominations 2012

Recognizing the year's best films

The 84th Academy Awards presentation will be held in California on February 26, 2012. Nominations for all categories were announced on January 24. The movies which leads the nominations are Hugo (11 nomination) and The Artist (10 nomination). Both the movies are also vying for the Best picture award. Billy Crystal will be the host for the ceremony. Unlike most award categories, the categories of Best Makeup, Best Foreign Language Film and Best Visual Effects each have a multiple-stage nomination process. Films with multiple nominations are Moneyball and War Horse (6), The Descendants and The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo (5), The Help and Midnight in Paris (4), Albert Nobbs, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part 2, Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy, Transformers: Dark of the Moon, and The Tree of Life (3), Bridesmaids, Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close, The Iron Lady, My Week with Marilyn and A Separation (2).
